TeachersFirst
If you only bookmark one site, make it Teacher's First! This site is free (although they do accept donations), and has no ads. This is not a site for students but rather, for teachers who want to infuse technology into their curriculum. The site offers a searchable database of websites but they go beyond the usual list of sites. In addition to telling you what you can do on a given site, they go on to describe how it can be effectively used in the classroom. Material includes "Classroom Resources", "Ready-To-Go" activities, Professional help from real teachers, "In The Trenches", webinars, "What's Current", and "What's Hot"Among other areas. Register and you can receive weekly newsletters and the ability to create a "My TF" section.
Teachers Love Smartboards
Created by a teacher who certainly loves Smartboards, this site features full descriptions of sites that are very effective on the interactive whiteboard. There are free lessons (paid ones as well) in the use of Smartnotebook, podcasts on the use of Smartboards, a newsletter, and a searchable list of sites.
Screencast
Screencast provides a place for you to upload, store and organize your videos, presentations, documents, and images. They provide a simple method of streaming media to your website or other webspace. This could be used as an alternative to uploading videos to TeacherTube, and will be particularly useful if your district provided teacher webspace does not support video files. You can upload student work here and set the privacy level you desire. Privacy ranges from totally open, to password protected, to invitation only. Note, teachers often provide students with a g-mail "+" e-mail address they can use to register for these type sites. Screencast does not support "+" e-mail addresses.
